Webinar January 11: – Introduction to Advanced IFS Classes

In the Advanced Ongoing IFS Classes you learn advanced techniques and understandings that go beyond what I teach in the Basic and Exiles Courses.

In addition, the whole group works together on important psychological issues such as procrastination, the inner critic, depression, eating issues, and many more. Therapists also have a chance for advanced training and consultation on IFS.

There are 4 classes.

I am so grateful for this offering from Jay and the opportunity to deepen and expand my understanding of IFS (which I adore).  Jay has structured the class so thoughtfully, resulting in a wonderfully safe and respectful container for learning and processing.  In addition, he presents a deliciously comprehensive curriculum, and best of all, invaluable demonstrations each session.  This is pure gold.  On top of all of this, Jay has assembled a fantastic group of practitioners as participants, whom–thanks to Jay’s video-conferencing wizardry–I can see and interact with in a way that feels intimate and dynamic.

IFS for Spiritual Development

Everett Considine

Learn how you can use IFS (Internal Family Systems) for Spiritual Development.

Meditation ImageAre you a spiritual person?  Do you meditate, pray or cultivate a connection to a higher power?  Are you concerned with inner peace, compassion, life purpose, authenticity, love, spiritual practice and/or service?

We all know how sublimely wonderful it feels when we are in the flow and connected.  Life is magical and we move through it with ease.  We also know how those sublime experiences can instantly disappear in the complexity of modern life.   Many times the reason we are pulled out this deeper connection to life is that material from our past is being triggered and protective and wounded parts of ourselves are being called to the surface.  Internal Family Systems gives you a way to work with and transform these parts of yourself.  As you gently build relationships with these parts and heal and transform the deeper wounded parts of yourself, your authentic Self starts to shine more and more.

IFS is a systemic view of the psyche and its use require some sophistication on the part of the practitioner.  Most spiritual practitioners are ideally suited to quickly being able to bring the power of IFS into their lives.  In fact, learning the basics of IFS can be instantly transforming for some people.

In this webinar Everett will give an overview of IFS from a spiritual perspective
and discuss how IFS:

  • Stabilizes and deepens spiritual realization
  • Deepens compassion for self and other
  • Can unmask the spiritual judge and other “spiritual” parts
  • Allows you to work with subtle aspects of the ego that are normally hard to manage
  • Can be integrated into your daily spiritual practices
  • Can be used to support a developing spiritual practice

Date: Tuesday March 24, 2015
Time: 4:30 to 6:30 pm Pacific | 7:30 to 9:30 pm Eastern

Everett will also introduce the upcoming IFS for Spiritual Development training he will be teaching.

Everett ConsidineEverett discovered meditation and his spiritual path when he was 18 years old.  On his spiritual path he’s meditated ten’s of thousands of hours, been initiated as a Buddhist monk and teacher and has taught meditation and mindfulness for many years.  Six years ago he was introduced to Internal Family Systems and as he integrated this powerful approach into his life he realized that IFS was the missing piece of the puzzle.  Everett’s been trained and certified now as an IFS practitioner and has been teaching IFS Peer Facilitation for 3 years. His passion is introducing IFS to spiritual practitioners so they can have the breakthroughs that he’s experienced.  He works as a spiritual teacher, coach and healer.

Introduction to IFS Webinar

IFS and the human psycheIFS is an extremely powerful and user-friendly form of therapy created by Richard Schwartz, PhD. It is non-pathologizing, spiritually-oriented, excellent for trauma, and lends itself naturally to self-therapy.

IFS understands that our psyches consists of sub-personalities, called “parts,” which make up a kind of inner system.  Parts often get into conflicts with each other and act in dysfunctional ways in an attempt to protect us from pain. All of this happens largely outside our awareness, and when we do see what is happening, we frequently try to banish the parts that are causing the difficulties. Yet this is hardly ever solves the problem. IFS, on the other hand, teaches us to relate to our parts from the “Self” with openness, curiosity, and compassion, not judgment, which allows each part to reveal its hidden agenda and the pain it defends against.  This paves the way for healing and transformation, which can be accomplished by following a clear sequence of steps.

The webinar explains the basics of IFS and how to do IFS sessions on yourself and how to do IFS peer counseling. It is intended for you if you want to…

  • Use IFS to transform your psychological problems so you can have the life you want, or
  • Learn more about how to use IFS professionally with your clients

We will talk about how IFS was developed and how it is being used today.

You will learn how you can use IFS by yourself or with a therapist to heal emotional issues and start living your life more and more from your calm-clear center. You will learn how an IFS Session is structured. You will also learn about the up-coming IFS Basic Tele-Class where you can learn how to use IFS by yourself or with a peer.

How do you deal with power in your relationships and interactions with people?

  • Can you assert yourself and exercise your personal power?
  • Can you work with people in a spirit of cooperation?
  • Do you give in too easily to others or try too hard to please them?
  • Do you need to be in control in many situations and get your way?
  • Do you feel as though you must stand up for yourself against people you view as dominating?
  • Do you frustrate others without realizing why?

Patterns-of-Power-Relationships

This free teleseminar deals with the Power Dimension of the Pattern System. Learn about the common problematic patterns and healthy relational capacities that have to do with power. Learn how to work through patterns of yours that get in the way of healthy relating. If you are a therapist or coach, learn how to understand your clients’ power patterns and how to help them. IFS provides powerful tools for transforming problematic patterns of power which integrate beautifully with the Pattern System.

This call will be a webinar so I can show you various graphics about the Power Dimension of the Pattern System on the web, so plan to have access to a computer or tablet, if possible. We will be looking at www.thepatternsystem.wikispaces.com.

The teleseminar will be recorded, so enroll even if you can’t attend, and you will receive the recording.

There are four problematic patterns in the Power Dimension—People-Pleasing, Passive-Aggressive, Controlling, and Rebel. Which ones do you have? Which ones do people you are close to have? Each of them is in Self-Therapy Journey, so you can work on transforming them through that web program.

The People-Pleasing Pattern involves complying with what other people want and trying to make them happy.

The Passive-Aggressive Pattern involves outwardly attempting to please people while rebelling against them in subtle ways that leave them frustrated and confused.

The Controlling Pattern involves being dominant and demanding, and expecting to have things your way.

The Rebel Pattern involves rebelling against other people’s power in an attempt to preserve your autonomy.

There are two complementary healthy capacities in the Power Dimension—Cooperation and Assertiveness.

The Cooperation Capacity involves the ability to be receptive and work well with others.

The Assertiveness Capacity involves the ability to think and act for yourself and to exert power to get what you want, protect yourself, or achieve what you think is right.
