If you have the Intimacy-Avoiding Pattern, when you are in a love relationship, you aren’t as intimate as you’re capable of being because a part of you is blocking closeness. For example, you are not as sexual, affectionate, or loving as you know you can be.

Perhaps you do not share much of yourself with your partner. Or you’re not as caring toward your partner as you know you could be. You might be avoiding intimacy in only one or two of these areas, or in all of them.

Of course, it takes two to tango, so the lack of intimacy in your relationship is likely due to some difficult dynamics between you and your partner. For example, you may have pulled away from your partner because it feels like your partner is so judgmental toward you. There could be smoldering resentment that has built up between the two of you, and neither of you feels open and loving anymore.
