If you have a Judgment Wound, at a deep level you feel bad about yourself and believe that there is something wrong with you, at least under certain circumstances. You may get upset when you are criticized by others or if you perceive that you are being criticized. These feelings may be completely conscious or they may only lurk in the background because you usually defend against them in certain ways, such as getting angry, withdrawing, or judging people.

This may make it impossible for you to deal with the content of the criticism, either to stand up for yourself if it is inaccurate or to learn from it if it is accurate. This may also make it difficult for you to avoid the perception that someone is being judgmental, even when they aren’t. Or you may become much more upset than is warranted by the amount of judgment being expressed, because you are so caught up in the pain of the exile.
